BUDGET: Between 1 crore INR and 4.99 crore INR (USD135,000 to USD540,000)
PROJECT OVERVIEW
JW Marriott Goa is a luxury hotel located in the picturesque state of Goa, India. It offers a blend of modern amenities and traditional Goan charm, catering to leisure and business travellers.
JW Goa has also been Awarded the Best Hotel of the Year 2024 in the luxury and upper-scale segment.
WHAT DID THE CLIENT WANT TO ACHIEVE?
The client wanted to build a multi-purpose venue catering to leisure and business travellers. On one day, there could be a corporate event, and on the other, a wedding party. The AV System and acoustics had to be designed to adapt to the dynamic usage workflow.
The restaurants and bars on the property also need to connect to central music servers or local sources for live performances or private parties.
The client also wanted to reduce/eliminate any additional manpower required to operate and run AV Services on a daily basis and wanted user-friendly automation to be implemented in all systems.
SCOPE OF WORK YOUR COMPANY WAS INVOLVED IN
Mr. Sunny Sarid, the Audio, Visual, and Acoustic Consultant, was involved in designing the Sound and Noise Isolation for all spaces, along with electroacoustic, audio, video, signage, and DJ lighting design for the entertainment and public areas of the hotel.
The system integrator was involved in the Supply, Installation, Testing, and commissioning of the active audiovisual equipment to achieve the above goals for the client and consultant.
WHAT KEY CHALLENGES WERE FACED?
The hotel is located in Goa, where there are plenty of logistical challenges. Also, this shipment was in the midst of the largest post-COVID shipping crisis. All the Shipping was done by our Singapore entity. Much documentation was involved in getting the EPCG Duty benefits from the government to give our client the best value for money.
Technical challenges include the hotel being very close to the sea and a moist and saline environment.
Another challenge was moving video signals over the client network from Video Over IP Devices. Marriott IT Standards were still not aligned to handle video over IP traffic on their networks.
HOW WERE THOSE CHALLENGES RESOLVED?
For all logistical challenges, our teams worked with several agencies across the countries to plan the shipping route and coordinate deliveries from Singapore, China, USA, and India simultaneously to apply for EPCG Benefits.
To deal with the moisture and salinity in the vicinity, all cables used were oxygen-free copper. All termination was done with corrosion-resistant lugs and glands. Great care was taken to prevent any water or moisture from leaking into the equipment or any connection.
Our teams worked with Marriott’s IT team and vendors to establish data stability and security over the AV Network. We could use the experience from other Marriott properties to import profiles into the network switches to get things going.
HOW HAS YOUR WORK HELPED THE CLIENT?
Our objective as technology providers is to provide customers with tools and aides to run their businesses smoothly. Our simple, user-friendly system design and integration help the hotel operations team manage the entertainment and information system across the hotel.
The hotel ops team can convert meeting rooms into event venues at the touch of a button. Music playback across the facility is controlled from one location. Digital Signage is automated and picks up event information from the Hotel HMS System.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE PROJECT?
Easy use and no support calls. The customer is able to use it despite people in operations changing. The user instructions on the iPad and controllers are so simple that they are able to run operations without calling us back to the site.
The design has been efficiently done to minimise any snags in the daily operations. The hotel’s business is providing reliable AV to premium customers, and they are able to achieve these goals happily.
The speakers in all common areas were custom coloured, matching the client’s RAL colour of the ceiling.
