PROJECT OVERVIEW

Ambaji Mata Temple is a pilgrimage site visited by millions of devotees during the week of the Bhadarvi Poonam fair. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is situated at a distance of approximately 65 kilometres from Palanpur, 45 kilometres from Mount Abu, 120 kilometres from Bhinmal sub-district, 20 kilometres from Abu Road, and 185 kilometres from Ahmedabad, 50 kilometres from Kadiyadra which is near the Gujarat and Rajasthan border. The shrine of Shri Amba is regarded as a shrine revered by the Shakta Shaktism sect of Hinduism, which attracts millions of devotees every year. It is believed that the Heart of Sati Devi has fallen here; however, it is not mentioned in any puran. During the Bhadarvi Poonam, we designed the entire temple with warm white and amber lights to give richness to the temple.

WHAT DID THE CLIENT WANT TO ACHIEVE?

During the Bhadarvi Poonam and throughout the year, lakhs of people have come to visit the temple and take the blessings of Maa Amba. So we thought that during the Bhadarvi Poonam, while visitors look at the temple, the image of the temple mesmerizes them with its lighting effects. The eye-catching effects of the lights play with the full prayer of Maa Amba. The client also wants the mesmerizing effects of sound with lighting and aarti, so the playful environment gives the devotees an astonishing experience.

SCOPE OF WORK YOUR COMPANY WAS INVOLVED IN

The concept is to create new effects on the temple every day, as the Bhadarvi Poonam is a long 9-day event, and during these days, the temple is visited by more than six million devotees. We created a very good warm white and umber effect, which was gel with the aarti to create a playful lighting effect. We have designed the lighting on the temple with nine variations per the total nine days of events. Every day, there was a new theme of lighting, which attracted the visitors more. Also, we have to synch the entire lighting and sound system with ongoing aarti so that the entire campus of the temple gives the devotees a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

WHAT KEY CHALLENGES WERE FACED?

So, the biggest challenge is to design the temple’s lighting so that the top portion of the gold plate is not affected in any way. The temple’s lighting is designed keeping in mind that the golden top should not lose its charm while designing the temple’s effects. Also, the most important challenge is to change the lighting effect per the Live Ambe Mata Arti bits and rhythm of the music.

HOW WERE THOSE CHALLENGES RESOLVED?

As per the client’s requirement and site condition & the help of the AV product, we can successfully achieve the challenges; the Golden top of the temple is the prime beauty of the Ambaji Mataji Temple, so in any case, we should not allow to loose its charm while doing façade lighting on the temple, So for this particular area we have only used natural light colours and umber colours which enhances the beauty of the golden colour. That beauty has reflected in the entire campus and the shine of the golden top was seen from kilometres. Also, we programmed the music of the Ambe ma Arti via using the DMX controller software and decoder, amplifier for signal losses, and repeater for command reports to the luminaires.

HOW HAS YOUR WORK HELPED THE CLIENT?

Lighting always plays a crucial part in enhancing the beauty of any structure, especially a temple or monument. Our lighting has played the same role in the Ambaji Mataji Temple. After the lighting was implemented, the beauty of the golden shrine was seen for kilometres, which attracted the devotees the most. The Temple Trust was able to increase the footfall of the temple visits. Also, not only the footfall but also the beauty of the temple was imaginary for the visitors.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ABOUT THE PROJECT?

We always say, and our entire team’s belief in Goddess Amba Maa is very strong, so as a devotee to work on this temple in any way is a proud moment for us; we will always be thankful to the department and Goddess Ambe Maa that we were selected to work on that temple, Of course, we have lightened the temple in a very unique way with the playful effects of lighting that synched with the audio system and also with the ongoing prayer. So, playing effects during the prayers of lights and sound created very devotional moments for all the devotees, which was appreciated by all the devotees and the departments. We feel immense satisfaction as a team, and we feel very proud to achieve that kind of customer satisfaction. Goddess Ambe Maa Blessed us all!!!!
