Project Overview

The project began with a Google website enquiry from one of India’s leading engineering institutions, seeking to transform its auditorium into a modern, technology-enabled space for lectures, conferences, seminars, cultural events, hybrid learning, and large-scale presentations. The existing AV infrastructure no longer met the institution’s evolving needs, with limited display capabilities, inconsistent audio coverage, acoustic challenges, disconnected AV systems, and reliance on rented equipment during major events. Before the tender process, SI conducted multiple Proof of Concepts (POCs), acoustic assessments, technology demonstrations, and solution design workshops, enabling the client to evaluate technologies and finalize the optimal solution. Following the successful government tender award, SI delivered a fully integrated AV ecosystem featuring an AET Active LED Display, QSC Professional Audio System, Erthpot Wireless Microphones, Crestron AV-over-IP control, and Lumens AI-enabled cameras. Today, the auditorium is a future-ready learning and event space offering exceptional audio-visual performance, simplified operation, and seamless support for hybrid education, conferences, and campus events.

What did the client want to achieve?

The client sought to transform its auditorium into a future-ready learning and event space capable of supporting modern education, collaboration, and hybrid engagement. The objective was to replace the existing projection-based setup with an immersive AV solution while improving audio clarity, reducing acoustic challenges, and simplifying day-to-day operations. The institution required an integrated AV ecosystem to support lectures, conferences, cultural events, presentations, and hybrid learning through a centralized, user-friendly control platform that could be operated without extensive technical expertise. As a government-funded institution, the solution also had to meet public procurement requirements while delivering long-term reliability, scalability, and value for investment. Beyond technology, the vision was to create a high-impact auditorium that enhanced the experience for students, faculty, and visitors while supporting the institution’s long-term goals of digital learning, innovation, and academic excellence.

Scope of work your company was involved in

SI was responsible for the complete design, engineering, integration, installation, programming, commissioning, and optimization of the auditorium’s Audio-Visual infrastructure. The engagement began with detailed site surveys, requirement analysis, acoustic assessments, Proof of Concepts (POCs), technology demonstrations, and solution evaluations before the formal tender process. The solution included an AET P1.5 COB Active LED Video Wall, replacing the ageing projection system, along with a Crestron NVX AV-over-IP network for seamless video distribution, presentations, recording, and streaming. SISPL designed and commissioned a QSC Professional Audio System with a QSC Core 110f DSP, delivering advanced audio processing, echo cancellation, feedback suppression, and optimized acoustics. Erthpot wireless microphones and Lumens AI-enabled PTZ cameras supported diverse event formats, hybrid learning, and recording. Crestron centralized control via iPads and touch panels simplified operation. SI also completed system programming, testing, acoustic tuning, operator training, documentation, and post-installation support, delivering a scalable, future-ready smart auditorium.

What key challenges were faced?

The project involved modernizing an auditorium that had been operational for over a decade, presenting significant technical and infrastructural challenges. The ageing projector-based system no longer delivered the visual quality required for modern presentations, while poor speech intelligibility, uneven audio coverage, echo, and acoustic reflections affected the audience experience. Existing infrastructure offered limited pathways for new AV cabling, and the institution wanted to preserve the auditorium’s architecture, making conventional installation methods impractical. Government procurement requirements added complexity, requiring an enterprise-grade solution that complied with tender specifications and budget constraints. The client also needed an intuitive system that could be operated by faculty, students, and administrative staff without dedicated AV expertise, demanding a carefully designed control interface. Finally, integrating the LED display, AV-over-IP network, professional audio, AI-enabled cameras, recording, streaming, and centralized control into a single seamless platform required meticulous engineering, interoperability testing, and commissioning to ensure reliable long-term performance.

How were those challenges resolved?

SI addressed every challenge through a structured, engineering-led approach focused on consultation, precision planning, and seamless integration. Before the tender process, the team conducted multiple Proof of Concepts (POCs), product demonstrations, acoustic assessments, and technical workshops, enabling stakeholders to evaluate technologies and finalize the optimal solution with confidence. The ageing projection system was replaced with an AET P1.5 COB Active LED Wall, delivering superior brightness, contrast, and image quality for both academic and event applications. Audio challenges were resolved using a QSC Core 110f DSP with advanced signal processing, including echo cancellation, feedback suppression, room equalization, and optimized speaker zoning for clear, consistent coverage. Civil modifications were minimized through innovative cable routing and custom mounting solutions that preserved the auditorium’s architecture. Crestron’s centralized control platform unified all AV devices into an intuitive interface accessible via wireless iPads and touch panels. Comprehensive programming, testing, commissioning, operator training, and validation ensured a reliable, future-ready auditorium with exceptional performance and simplified day-to-day operation.

How has your work helped the client?

The completed project transformed the client’s auditorium into a modern, future-ready space for learning, collaboration, and events. The AET Active LED Display delivers exceptional visual clarity for lectures, conferences, convocations, and cultural programs, enhancing audience engagement and presentation quality. The QSC Professional Audio System provides crystal-clear speech, balanced sound coverage, and eliminates the echo and intelligibility issues of the previous setup. AI-enabled Lumens cameras, recording, and live-streaming capabilities now support hybrid learning, online lectures, and virtual events. Crestron’s intuitive one-touch control platform allows faculty, students, and administrative staff to operate the entire AV system without dedicated technical support, improving efficiency and ease of use. The integrated solution has reduced reliance on rented equipment, lowered operating costs, and improved event management. Its scalable AV-over-IP architecture ensures long-term adaptability. The project received strong appreciation from the Director, Dean, Assistant Dean, and other stakeholders, with zero service complaints since commissioning, further strengthening SISPL’s relationship with the institution.

What are you most proud of about the project?

This project exemplifies SI’s commitment to delivering value beyond technology implementation. What began as a Google enquiry evolved into a landmark educational AV transformation through technical expertise, trust, and a consultative approach. Before the tender process, SI provided engineering consultancy, solution design, Proof of Concepts (POCs), acoustic assessments, and technology demonstrations, enabling the client to make informed decisions with confidence. Delivering a premium auditorium within government procurement guidelines while overcoming legacy infrastructure constraints showcased SI’s engineering excellence and execution capabilities. The seamless integration of an AET Active LED Display, Crestron AV-over-IP platform, QSC Professional Audio System, Lumens AI-enabled cameras, and intuitive control interface created a powerful yet easy-to-use solution. The project received strong appreciation from institutional leadership and has recorded zero post-installation service complaints, establishing a long-term partnership and reinforcing SISPL’s reputation for delivering reliable, future-ready AV solutions.

● Engineered every room for reliability, ease of use for non-technical faculty, and quick turn-on.
● Enabled lecture capture, remote participation, and clear speech reinforcement throughout.
● Designed and commissioned within the university’s academic calendar window (19 March 2025 to 13 October 2025), minimising disruption while establishing a single, repeatable classroom standard across the estate.

What did the client want to achieve?

● Wanted all 83 classrooms across four different room sizes and formats to deliver the same reliable hybrid-teaching experience.
● Sought a common AV and control workflow so faculty could walk into any room and start a lecture, capture, or remote session without retraining.

Scope of work your company was involved in

● Covered end-to-end supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of classroom AV systems across all 83 University rooms.
● Installed interactive displays in the 72-seat rooms and laser projector/screen combinations in the 40-seat and 80-seat lab rooms.
● Deployed AI-tracking 4K PTZ cameras for instructor framing in the 7 camera-enabled rooms.
● Implemented HDMI/USB-C wall-plate interfacing with active optical cabling for long, high-bandwidth runs.
● Built a DSP-based audio chain feeding ceiling and surface loudspeakers through dedicated amplification.
● Provided wireless headworn and gooseneck microphones for instructors.
● Established a centralised HDMI/USB switching and control layer over a PoE network for remote management.
● Conducted room-by-room acoustic tuning across all four room types.
● Standardised the user interface across all room formats.
● Delivered commissioning support to bring the full 83-room portfolio online within the academic calendar.

What key challenges were faced?

● Faced signal-degradation risk from long cable runs between wall plates, switching, and displays in larger rooms and multi-floor buildings, replicated across 83 rooms.
● Encountered acoustic variability, as rooms differed in size, shape, and finish across four distinct formats (40 to 80 seats), meaning a single fixed audio tuning could not deliver even speech coverage.
● Needed to maintain one standardised user experience despite only 7 of the 83 rooms carrying teacher-tracking cameras.
● Required the interface and workflow to feel identical to faculty across both camera and non-camera rooms.
● Operated under a firm academic-calendar deadline that demanded many rooms be commissioned in parallel.

How were those challenges resolved?

● Addressed signal integrity over distance using active optical HDMI/USB cabling with disciplined cable management and routing standards, applied consistently across all 83 rooms.
● Resolved acoustic variability with DSP-based presets and room-type tuning, calibrated per room category rather than a single generic setting.
● Kept speech coverage even regardless of room size through this room-specific calibration.
● Standardised a common HDMI/USB-C interfacing and control workflow across camera-enabled and non-camera rooms alike.
● Delivered an identical on-screen experience to faculty across all four room types, cutting training and helpdesk load.
● Commissioned rooms in phases against the academic calendar, replicating the standardised design quickly once validated in the first rooms.

How has your work helped the client?

● Simplified day-to-day teaching by turning hybrid sessions into a routine, one-touch experience across all 83 rooms rather than a special setup.
● Delivered consistent speech clarity to faculty in every room.
● Reduced technical friction at the start of class through the common HDMI/USB workflow.
● Enabled the university’s IT team to support the whole estate with a single playbook instead of room-by-room troubleshooting.
● Kept delivery on schedule against a fixed academic-calendar deadline.
● Reinforced confidence in the platform through responsive support since handover.
● Positioned the university to extend the same standard to future buildings.

What are you most proud of about the project?

● Achieved genuine standardisation at real campus scale, delivering one repeatable smart-classroom design across 83 rooms spanning four different sizes and formats.
● Commissioned all 83 rooms inside one academic calendar window without disrupting teaching.
● Delivered a classroom experience that feels identical to faculty everywhere on campus.
● Backed the deployment with consistent speech clarity and dependable hybrid-session performance from day one.
● Achieved strong, immediate adoption from teaching staff.
