Located just 35 kilometers from Rajkot in Gujarat, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Gondal is a remarkable spiritual sanctuary constructed in 1934 under the guidance of Swaminarayan Shashtriji Maharaj’s third successor. Dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, the temple is a masterpiece of devotion and architectural splendor.
Inside,it houses meticulously crafted idols like Dhami, Guru Parampara, Dham, Mukta, Ghanshyam Maharaj, and Sukh Shayya, blending spirituality with artistry. The temple’s emblem, drawn from “Aksharderi,” represents the sacred connection within the Shrine of “Aksharbraham Gunatitanand Swami” on the temple’s ground floor.
Beyond its borders, this temple attracts devotees from across the globe who seek solace and spirituality at the revered “Akshar Deri.” The grand entrance gate, a creation of BAPS Swaminarayan Sansthan, ushers visitors into a serene garden nestled amid the surrounding forest.

What did the client want to achieve?
At the heart of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple’s mission is a commitment to illuminating its rich history and heritage, deeply rooted in Lord Swaminarayan’s teachings. To achieve this, the temple has harnessed the power of innovation, presenting an awe-inspiring light and sound show on its grand façade.
Over the years, this visual spectacle has evolved, becoming a magnet for devotees and global visitors alike. The latest enhancement focuses on vibrant color reproduction and striking contrast, ensuring the content’s profound impact. To achieve this, the temple has embraced RGB pure laser projection, taking the visual experience to new heights.
The Christie Griffyn 4K35-RGB pure laser projector, boasting an impressive 36,500 lumens, native 4K resolution, advanced electronics, integrated cooling, and a sealed optical path for enduring performance, has been chosen as the centerpiece. This projector epitomizes the temple’s commitment to delivering an uplifting and immersive experience, which has garnered widespread acclaim.

Our journey into the realm of projection design, installation, and commissioning unfolded as a captivating endeavor. Our mission: to harness the power of technology and artistry to create an immersive visual masterpiece. With precision and innovation, we embarked on this project by integrating a total of five Christie Griffyn 4K35-RGB pure laser projectors.
The strategic placement of these projectors became paramount to our vision. They were installed atop the clock tower’s balcony, offering an unobstructed vantage point directly overlooking the temple. This careful positioning allowed us to meticulously map the entire expanse of the temple’s majestic front façade. The projection distance spanned a remarkable 100 meters, a testament to the project’s scale and ambition.
With a brightness of 36,500 lumens, the Griffyn 4K35-RGB projectors were the embodiment of our commitment to delivering spellbinding images that would transcend the ordinary and elevate the viewer’s experience to a realm of wonder.
What key challenges were faced?
The global chip shortage brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic emerged as the primary challenge and cast a shadow of uncertainty over the timely delivery of the projectors to the client. This posed multifaceted issues that demanded an exceptional level of adaptability and innovation.
Beyond manufacturing woes, there were also logistical challenges. Transportation bottlenecks, customs challenges, and fluctuating shipping schedules threatened to derail our meticulously planned delivery timelines.
Our foremost concern was meeting the expectations of our client, who had entrusted us with the monumental task of delivering an awe-inspiring projection experience. The specified date for the show loomed large on the horizon, and any delay in projector delivery risked jeopardizing the entire project’s success and undermining the client’s confidence.
How were those challenges resolved?
Amid the global chip shortage, our commitment to excellence persisted. Although we secured the Griffyn 4K35-RGB projectors from our factory, logistical complexities hindered meeting the inaugural show’s date.
In this critical juncture, innovation and dedication prevailed. We deployed legacy Roadster J Series projectors as a temporary solution, swiftly preparing them for the event. Since the temple’s façade featured various contours and depth levels, it was important to ensure uniform brightness for the projections. A lot of detailed engineering was put in place by the Design group to achieve optimal visuals. Our engineers’ tireless efforts ensured a flawless performance, making the inaugural show a success.
While awaiting Griffyn 4K35-RGB projectors, our goal remained unwavering: a seamless show continuation. Upon their arrival, we transitioned seamlessly, showcasing our adaptability and dedication to excellence. This journey exemplifies our commitment to overcoming adversity through innovation, ensuring unforgettable experiences for our clients and audiences.
How has your work helped the client?
Our dedication to making the inaugural show a success was met with genuine appreciation, despite our initial use of projectors that fell short of the Griffyn Series, known for their spectacular visuals featuring lifelike colors and cutting-edge RGB pure laser illumination.
However, the moment we seamlessly transitioned to the Griffyn 4K35-RGB projectors, a remarkable transformation unfolded. The client was instantly captivated by the breathtaking visuals these projectors delivered. Colors surged with vividness, brightness reached new heights, and contrasts became more pronounced, presenting content in its full glory. The Griffyn 4K35-RGB achieved this excellence by offering an exceptionally wide color gamut, encompassing approximately 98% of the Rec. 2020 color space—far surpassing Rec. 709 and DCI-P3-capable projectors, providing audiences with an unmatched visual experience.
