PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Rajwada Palace is an ODE to the artistic intelligent of the Holker dynasty & embodiment of the dynasty’s love and wisdom of their history , heritage & culture. On the other hand the Mahatma Gandhi town hall in Indore is a towering structure constructed in an Indo-gothic style. The front facade of the town hall also function at clock tower & the central hall of the building is massive enough to accommodate up to 2000 people which serves as an exhibition for several Indian trades and art.
What did the client want to achieve?
The Indore Smart City Development Ltd.(ISCDL) a civic body is mainly focused on redeveloping the city as a smart city which ultimately aims at increasing the tourists at the above mentioned historic destination.
Scope of work your company was involved in
The Consultant and integrator were tasked to add on the structures with intelligent dynamic lighting and increase it’s appeal in the realm of Indian tourism. We worked closely with ISCDL to lay down the essential pertaining to the technical specification and requirement to this project. We were instrumental involved at every step. We worked smoothly & quickly to complete the project in time.
What key challenges were faced?
ISCDL kept strict guidelines for conservation using traditional material without using any cement. The structure was not to be tempered with drilling the wall , defacing the architecture. We were extremely challenged to lay the cable wire and fix the luminary without tempering the architecture of the walls. As per ASI guideline we were not allowed to use crane there so in 7 floored building it was great challenge to get the luminaries to the specified height and fix it within 3 months.
How were those challenges resolved?
Being restricted of not drilling the walls for maintaining dignity of palace, we used special chemicals for fixing the luminaries and for other different works too. We had special team of experienced electricians who were capable of fixing the luminaries, laying of cables & other work with the help of rope while hanging without using crane & damaging any structure.
How has your work helped the client?
We completed the work before the time with perfection & fulfilled all the requirements of the client. By this, their main motive of attracting tourism with the impact lighting was achieved. Also we helped in maintaining the dignity & prestige of the palace by making it more attractive with lights.
What are you most proud of in relation to the project?
We are most proud of presenting that façade lighting when applied at areas like exterior surface of monuments and landmark building , it can create unique and memorable experience. Well planned lightings can connect places and stimulate night tourism.
