Project Overview

The project involved the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of a Digitalized Museum at Bantony Castle, Shimla, for the Department of Language & Culture, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The objective was to transform the historic castle into an immersive museum using modern audio-visual technologies, interactive exhibits, and digital storytelling to enhance visitor engagement while preserving the site’s heritage significance.


What did the client want to achieve?

The client envisioned creating a world-class digital museum that presents the history and cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh through immersive and interactive experiences.

The objective was to engage visitors using modern AV technologies, improve interpretation of exhibits, and establish Bantony Castle as a landmark cultural destination while ensuring reliable long-term operation and maintenance.


Scope of work your company was involved in

Our scope included turnkey execution of the Digitalized Museum Gallery, covering design, engineering, procurement, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and system integration. We deployed and integrated audio-visual systems, interactive technologies, digital display solutions, and museum infrastructure, followed by operation and maintenance support to ensure reliable and seamless day-to-day functioning. Along with the digital systems we were deployed to do the interiors as well and create physical sets.


What key challenges were faced?

The project required integrating advanced digital technologies within a heritage structure while preserving its architectural character. System installation had to be carefully planned to minimize intervention in the historic building. Integrating multiple AV and interactive systems into a unified visitor experience, while ensuring operational reliability and ease of maintenance, added further technical complexity. Data for content creation was also not friendly for modern technology and interactives which resulted in extensive research and careful consideration for authenticity.


How were those challenges resolved?

Detailed planning and site coordination enabled the integration of modern technologies with minimal impact on the heritage structure. Customized installation methods and careful equipment placement preserved the building’s aesthetics. All AV and interactive systems were integrated and thoroughly tested to ensure reliable operation, seamless synchronization, and ease of maintenance.

Additional structures were created to compliment the existing building and blend technology with the old world charm. For example the reception fireplace was retained and the whole wall was carefully designed into a beautiful scenery of the hills with digital screens showcasing the flora and fauna of Himachal.

Researchers were engaged and extensive studies were undertaken to create original content and designs to maintain authenticity keeping in mind the cultural sensitivities.

The integrated AV and interactive systems have enhanced heritage interpretation, improved visitor engagement, and created a sustainable platform for cultural tourism.
