Project Overview
● GPOA (General Pool Office Accommodation) is a large government office complex spanning nine floors, from ground to the 8th floor.
● SI handled the complete AV and public address system for the building.
● The conferencing footprint covers 120 rooms: 39 Conference Rooms across nine layouts seating 14–32 people, 8 Meeting Rooms, 14 Minister/Secretary Rooms, and 59 AS/JS Rooms.
● Rooms are fitted with Bosch DCNM digital conferencing hardware, totalling roughly 34 chairman and 362 delegate positions.
● The project includes an AV-over-IP video backbone connecting nearly 200 endpoints via Kramer encoders and decoders.
● Professional displays from Samsung and LG range from 55 to 115 inches, plus LG OLED 55 & 65 C56LA.
● Video conferencing is built around Poly Studio units and soundbars.
● A building-wide sound system combines EV ceiling speakers, Yamaha column arrays, and Crown/BSS amplification.
● AMX room control, PTZ cameras, and Cisco networking/structured cabling tie the system together.
● One of the largest government conferencing and PA installations undertaken, executed per Government of India procurement norms and BIS/CE/UL | EN 54-24 certification requirements.
What did the client want to achieve?
● Wanted modern, standardised conferencing and communication infrastructure across all 120 rooms in the building.
● Coverage was needed from the large Minister and Secretary-level conference halls down to the smaller AS/JS rooms and meeting rooms spread over nine floors.
● Required a system reliable enough for large delegate meetings, but simple enough that staff wouldn’t need extensive training to operate it.
● Needed a video distribution system that didn’t rely on old-style point-to-point cabling, making an AV-over-IP backbone the right fit.
● Wanted one control interface per room instead of juggling multiple remotes or systems.
● Required proper PA coverage for safety and evacuation announcements.
● Needed confidence that all equipment – from Bosch to AMX to Kramer to Cisco – would work together and hold up to BIS and Government of India certification standards.
● Wanted the system to be modular, so more rooms or capacity could be added later without redoing the core setup.
Scope of work your company was involved in
● Delivered full supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the AV and PA systems for GPOA, spanning 120 rooms across nine floors.
● Covered 39 dedicated Conference Rooms, 8 Meeting Rooms, 14 Minister/Secretary Rooms and 59 AS/JS Rooms.
● Deployed Bosch DCNM conferencing hardware – chairman and delegate units, conference PCs, and management software – across the main Conference Rooms.
● Installed Kramer AV-over-IP encoders and decoders distributing video to nearly 200 endpoints.
● Fitted Samsung and LG displays from 55″ to 115″ with all wall-mount hardware.
● Set up video conferencing systems built around Poly Studio codecs, Poly R30 soundbars and PTZ cameras.
● Executed sound reinforcement with EV ceiling speakers, Yamaha column arrays, Crown amplifiers, BSS DSP units and Bosch ceiling speakers for the PA zones.
● Deployed AMX control processors and touch panels room by room, Kramer’s wireless presentation system, Cisco PoE+ switches, and server racks.
● Laid all structured cabling – CAT6A, UTP, HDMI, USB-C and speaker cable – needed to tie the system together.
● Handled OEM approvals, verified quantities on site against the tender BOQ, and managed staged delivery, floor-by-floor commissioning, and handover documentation.
What key challenges were faced?
● Coordinated installation across 120 rooms on nine floors, each with its own layout, pax count and equipment mix.
● Kept specifications consistent across a long list of OEMs – Bosch, AMX, Kramer, Samsung, LG, Cisco, Poly, BSS, Crown and Sennheiser – that all had to work together.
● Managed quantities that shifted between the original tender order and what was actually needed on site, requiring constant BOQ reconciliation.
● Ensured the AV-over-IP backbone could carry 4K video reliably, with latency low enough not to be noticeable, over a network also handling other building traffic.
● Worked around the usual constraints of ongoing construction and government security clearances across nine floors.
● Pulled together several separate control ecosystems – AMX, Bosch’s own conferencing software, Kramer’s AV-over-IP management – into something a non-technical user could operate without a manual.
How were those challenges resolved?
● Applied strict discipline in project tracking and assigned the right specialists to each sub-system.
● Ran a running BOQ reconciliation to keep order quantities and site-verified quantities aligned, keeping procurement and billing accurate despite constant revisions.
● Worked with the client’s IT team early on to set up separate VLANs and QoS rules for AV-over-IP traffic, so the Kramer backbone could hit its latency and bandwidth targets without affecting other network traffic.
● Broke installation down floor by floor and by room type, scheduling around construction and security access rather than pushing through everything at once, keeping disruption to a minimum.
● Assigned each sub-system – conferencing, PA, control, networking – to engineers who were OEM-certified or factory-trained on that specific product line.
● Built a single AMX programming layer that pulls conferencing, display, video conferencing and PA controls into one touch panel per room, so operators only deal with one interface.
How has your work helped the client?
● Delivered a properly standardised AV and communication setup across all 120 rooms of GPOA, instead of a patchwork that would’ve resulted from handling each floor separately.
● Equipped the 39 dedicated Conference Rooms with a dependable digital conferencing system supporting around 400 delegate positions in total.
● Gave the Meeting Rooms, Minister/Secretary Rooms and AS/JS Rooms the same consistent video conferencing and display quality.
● Enabled the client to add or reconfigure rooms down the line without pulling new cable runs, since the video backbone runs over IP.
● Cut down staff training needs through the single-interface control setup.
● Provided proper building-wide PA coverage for announcements and emergencies.
● Set up GPOA to host large official meetings, video conference with other government offices, and run day-to-day across all nine floors without the AV side becoming a constant support headache.
What are you most proud of about the project?
● Achieved the scale and coordination it took to pull off 120 rooms across nine floors, roughly 400 conferencing seats, and nearly 200 AV-over-IP endpoints.
● Delivered more than a dozen different OEM product lines to a Government of India facility without cutting corners on BIS, CE or UL compliance.
● Kept the project on track through rigorous BOQ reconciliation despite constant quantity changes.
● Built a single AMX control layer that keeps the underlying complexity invisible to the people actually using the rooms day to day.
● Delivered one of the bigger, more technically varied government AV projects SI has undertaken – a strong example of what the team can handle end to end.
